I got a Crock Pot for Christmas from Gabriella. She gave me a Slow Cooker Cookbook as well (along with some great stuff from Arbonne, for which she is a dealer). Gabi's been extolling the virtues of crock pot, and I've been wanting one but never even thought about it enough to do anything about it. Gabi uses it for ridiculous amounts of things, like making pies and spaghetti. The hell, you say.
David and I are so excited about crock pot. Crock pot does so much and asks so little. Crock pot is big and red. Crock pot is for dumping whatever you have together and cooking it. Or so we thought. In our excitement on Sunday we made a fatal error. See, we'd decided to cook this big chili recipe that required two small zucchinis. So we went to the store to get two small zucchinis, and instead accidentally purchased two small cucumbers. "Oh well," thought we, "we'll throw it in anyway."
We were supposed to have some people over for dinner, but we canceled due to varying illnesses. It was a good thing. Don't ever try and cook cucumber into your chili. There is a reason cucumber is usually served cold. That is some nasty business. Still, we continue crockin' forward. We're trying some sweet potatoes today.
I am soldiering forward with auditions, even though I currently have the voice of a pre-pubescent boy due to some kind of throat ailment I picked up in Albuquerque. There's lots of stuff to report and I am utterly unable to talk about anything except crock pot.
Ahhhh, I say you have not lived until you walk home from a long day to smell wonderful aromas from your crockpot. Do you have a bread machine? That just tops off the meal. Sarah has a wonderful recipe for a chocolate fudge cake that's yummy! We love our crockpot'S' - yes, that's plural because I love crockpot cooking soooo much!! Congrats & thanks for the tip on the cuc. Never thought of that in chili, and now I'm glad. Prairie Momma | Homepage | 01.09.07 - 9:50 pm | #
I do have a bread machine that I inherited from my mom! I'm gonna do the whole nine yards one of these days. a | Homepage | 01.10.07 - 12:33 pm | #
I am the dissenting voice. I don't use my crockpot much and hated my bread machine. I freecycled it. I can't imagine what cooked cucumber would taste like. Blech! Lisa | 01.10.07 - 12:39 pm | #
uh-oh....i'm pretty sure cucumbers weren't in the cookbook...try cake instead Anonymous | 01.10.07 - 8:20 pm | #
I TOO HAVE CROCK POT. Mine is inherited from Casey's southern mama. So far I have just made crock-pot-in-a-bag stuff from the grocery store. ashley | 01.12.07 - 11:42 pm | #
