It's two years today that my Mom died.

This is something too close to my heart to elaborate on. Whatever I try to write ends up seeming cheap.

I'm just nodding at the date. That's all. I see you there, May 30th, and I acknowledge you.

This weekend was filled with adventure and fun and relaxation, just as it should be. We went on a long hike in Malibu Creek State Park and saw the remains of the set of M*A*S*H. The hills were lush and green and filled with wildflowers. We then made our way to the ocean and spent some time at our favorite little beach. It was exciting to see a group of pelicans searching for their evening meal amongst the waves.

We saw the X-Men movie, which was just ok. There were a lot of things about it that were very disappointing for me, but I kind of knew going in that there was no way this director was going to tell the story the way Singer had. Sigh. As Don said, we should not have to settle for a C- world.

Victoria came over and brought a veritable garden of veggies from a farmer's market and we ate the sweetest and freshest corn and yummiest salad I'd had in a long time.
We also sort of had an unintended marathon of The Office, which was hilarious. We went and photographed more cakes at Costco. I worked hard on press packets for NXNE, which amazingly is already next week.

Just all nice things.

So yeah, life goes on, because it has to. And it's a beautiful thing. The strawberries are still sweet, and the flowers still bloom each year. I'm starting to remember you when the summer winds come in, just like I'd promised. I'm still here, for however long I have, and I'm going to savor it.

This entry was beautiful. It's crazy that you and I will share these dates in May as the dates that we lost someone so special, but I love your outlook on life in response to your loss. You are beautiful inside and out and I love you with all my heart.
