My dad is in town, so we've been doing the fambily thing. We went to see this beautiful exhibit, which I highly recommend (but try to go at a time when there won't be a lot of people). It's really quite remarkable: a nomadic museum with all of the elements made of recycled materials and filled with photographs of humans and animals in spiritual correspondence with each other.
I would never ever admit to you that we went to see Eight Below. That's just poppycock.
We also went to the Autry Museum which has been minutes away from me for years now but I've never stepped foot inside. We had to race through it since it was closing, but it seemed interesting. I'm a bit more interested in the Southwest Museum of the American Indian, which is its sister nearby, detailing the natives of this region. I feel a spiritual bond with Griffith park and its furry inhabitants, who I get to see when driving home from work: coyotes, bunnies, and even deer. I want to know what these hills were before they were known as an overrun park. Communing at Tifanie's new commune was a wonderful treat this weekend. Apparently there is proof. There were green chile and cream cheese pinwheels and the reddest, reddest cupcakes I've ever consumed. It seems hard to believe we live in the same city now. Someone I love found someone to love, too, and that's very exciting.
I'm still drifting in a quiet water, but I can see that there are others above, making their way. It is my time for silence and the contemplation in the deep.
Have a lovely swim, beautiful one. tifanie | 02.21.06 - 11:26 pm | #
The 'Ashes and Snow' website is beautifully serene. I wish I could just sit here all day and listen and watch! Well, back to work. Have a beautiful day. Ma | 02.22.06 - 7:06 am | #
Keep thinking I should head out there to see the show, but still haven't... :P Mimi | 02.22.06 - 8:35 am | #
You know, I like this album so much, that I've been meaning to write a full out review of it. Lately though, I've been in a very watching/listening/reading phase, and haven't gotten around to much writing. I've been storing things like the little bit on Huntington in my head for when my fingers want to get into something again, but H. has been so insistant on popping into my head that I had to mention it aside from the rest.
