Man, I am spiritually exhausted in the best way from a truly fantastic evening. Last night was the kind of night where art kicks down a door in your spirit, and some serious communing takes place. I haven't had that happen for me in a good long while, and it was a subtle kind of opening. It was a great show, and I don't know if that's because of something in me or something in Tori or a bit of both. I guess part of me was ready to hear some truths from way deep down.
That ability to open those doors for people is what thrills me in being an artist, and what makes me want to move forward. It was very, very nice to see some of my kindreds last night, too: Mimi and Shawn and Bryan. We also had the fortune of meeting (or continually running into) Lorraine (Neil Gaiman's assistant and legendary musician) and Malena, two lovelies who are making music together. Hooray for the creatives!
Speaking of lunatics, hubby and I noticed that tonight at the same venue, David Sedaris and Sarah Vowell are performing (speaking? spazzing out?). Dammit, WE'RE GOING BACK with hopes of snagging tickets at the door. Entertain our asses!
Today I get to do a phone interview with the scholarship contenders. I'm excited.
Did you get to see them? I'm jealous about Tori, and happy about the scholarship. That is a tremendously uplifting thing.

Yeah, they make me want to do bad things, too... but, this is a family Web site so I'll leave it at that.
Adriana... you better blog on the interview process, it'll be great! Mike M. | Homepage | 05.01.05 - 11:07 am | #
