We are at the end of what can only be described as a deluge. It has been fantastic. Lovely, dark, heavy rain. Soon we're going to have to start building an ark.
I actually went to a club this weekend for dancing. Those who know me know that this is an anomaly. It was due to a bachelorette party I was attending (if you can call a "party" the bride, her best friend, and me). It was ear-splittingly loud, the music was hideous, and everyone looked like they were 12 years old. We did our best to humiliate our bride-to-be, but the boys around her were doing a good job on her themselves. She is a recruiter for UCLA, so it was with a certain bit of irony that she asked the guy who was dancing with her, "what did you get on your SATs?" (He got 720. Embarassing.)
It's been a long time since I've gotten to watch mating rituals in full force. Good LORD, these guys were dorks. Here was one inane exchange (over unbearably loud crappy hippity hop music):
*dude reaching out hand for formal handshake*
"HELLO, MY NAME IS HERBIE CRAPPITICUS THE THIRTIETH."
"HAVE YOU EVER BEEN TO THIS CLUB?"
"DO YOU LIKE IT?"
"TOO MANY ASIANS, HUH?"
"What? No, I just..."
"YEAH, TOO MANY ASIANS!"
"I'm here for a bachelorette party."
"OH. IS SHE GETTING MARRIED IN VEGAS?"
Random. I was clearly the Nurse hindering them from their Juliet. It was fun. I felt like some kind of Amazonian goddess of wrath, fending dorks off with my cranberry juice. People get really mad at you when you don't drink. I've never understood this. I am not hindering your fun. Drink away. If I DID drink, then I'd be a hindrance, because you'd be taking me to the hospital. So shut up and get drunk. I will watch with amusement.
Anyway, that was Saturday night.
We recorded some good yummy things this weekend, so that's nice. Soon we will go in to Hermit Lockdown, and you won't hear from me much.
