Without getting too explicit, I'll tell you that Mom is having a procedure today. It's not the best of news, there's no question, but at least she's still with us. It's going to be an adjustment, and I'm hoping I can be there to help as much as possible. This has all been ... well, at lot of things: interesting, horrifying, sad, depressing, fascinating, awe-inspiring. There is plenty to be thankful for, and I'm acutely aware of that. Once again, the pain draws the world into sharper focus. The shadows as they lengthen draw attention to the light that creates them. This is what it is to live.
