No news on Mom yet. Probably some news by the end of the day. In the meantime....

Tepid Reviews: how I enjoy them. We've gotten a couple lately that I think you all might find amusing. I think the funniest thing about them is, why publish them? If you hear an album and you're not too jazzed about them, why bother using the bandwidth? I'm not talking about a bad review, can be terribly fun to read. I'm talking about one where the person had no opinion to begin with, and the yawn is deafening.

The first came from GreenMan Review, which specifically requested our album because Neil Gaiman himself recommended us to them, and they were all excited. Here's what they had to say, some seven months later. David Essex? Uh....HUH? I'm still baffled at this one.

Then today came this review from Starvox, with an email from the reviewer saying that his sister LOVED the album. He didn't bother to mention that to the public, however. I appreciate constructive criticism, but "my stomach hurts like hell right now" doesn't help me. Feh.

Just thought you'd like a giggle.

Mr. Rasmussen is a freak. First, I never would have thought of you as a Mrs. Even though I guess technically you are. Second, non-descript? Maybe his definition of descript is repeatedly injecting extraneous information (i.e. his stomach problems)into his reviews.

Some folks should, perhaps, just stick to writing grocery lists.

He's actually kinda right about the WAR OF THE WORLDS thing, there are similarities in your style and that album... and that's not a bad thing. I never would've thought of it had he not mentioned it. I used to LOVE that album. It's still available I'm sure, it's a two-disc set. I need a new copy...

The other review... what a non-entity. He can't formulate a coherent opinion. Bah!

I totally agree - a waste of bandwidth. But hey, any exposure is good exposure so long as they're not telling people to stay away! Even that would be good exposure. No such thing as bad press.

"Easygoing?" "Background music?" What kind of crack is this man huffing? I found nothing of the sort with your album- it's very engaging, and somewhat confrontational, I thought. Ah well, at least they wrote something. Where are the bad reviews, if any?

CRACKING ME UP. It's just kinda funny to hear reviewers try to peg you. I mean..you're pegless.
