I just got the call from my dad and brother. My mom's surgery is over. It's definitely cancer, and it had spread all over. They took out her appendix and her ovaries and lymph nodes in the area. The surgeons told us that they don't know if it's ovarian or appendiceal cancer. If it's ovarian, they can try to treat it with chemo. If it's the appendix, there's nothing they can do. It's going to take 4 to 7 days for the tests to come back.

I can't leave for Albuquerque until Monday, and that's maddening.

Lots and lots and lots of hope and prayers for the best. Be strong.

....whatever that means. I've not figured it out yet.

Every circumstance of your life that can't be changed in important situations like this seems so unfair - we all know. On the other hand, thankfully, life isn't built around expecting things like this.

Words can't express how much hope I'm sending your way.
