I am floating lightly like a leaf on a breeze, landing gently into this day. What an amazingly, surprisingly fun weekend. OH my lord. Where to begin? Comic-Con in San Diego was flippin awesome. We had so very much fun just experiencing this mecca of comicdom in its fullness. I mean, for goodness' sake, we saw Frodo Baggins AND Luke Skywalker, all in one day. That's almost too much for a brain to handle! David and I were walking down a hall when we saw a camera crew and I heard what is probably one of the most recognizable voices in the world: Mark Hamill, being weird and smarmy for a mockumentary he is doing on comic cons. David did his best to take compromising photos of him, which I will post soon. Earlier we had been at a panel for Lord of the Rings when Elijah Wood, Dominic Monaghan, and Billy Boyd (Frodo, Merry, Pippin) came out. The crowd went INSANE. Ok, I went insane too. They were just beaming with pride and Elijah even got a picture of the audience going nuts. Also present were the guys who played Lurtz and Sauron. Sauron himself judged David and me worthy of free t-shirts. The world is a strange and wonderful place. Also seen/spotted/gawked at: Arnold Schwartzenegger, Matt Groening, Hilary Swank, Lucy Liu, Jason Lee, Timothy Olyphant, Marina Sertis, Aimee Mann, Michael Penn, and Lou Ferrigno!! I ended up seeing artists like Brian and Wendy Froud and Charles Vess, whose work I have loved and never dreamed I would meet. Ended up getting some nice art. We took a swing by Sea World to pet dolphins, and David bravely held dead fish in his hands just to lure them in our direction. We were so over-stimulated by Sunday that it's a wonder we could operate a vehicle to get home. I love it when something turns out to be such a great surprise. I am still buzzing with energy. Whee!
