It gives me much joy to be able to report that I have been cast as Charlotte Corday in Marat/Sade (otherwise known as The Persecution and Assasination of Jean-Paul Marat As Performed By The Inmates of the Asylum of Charenton Under The Direction Of The Marquis De Sade) at the Tamarind Theatre in Hollywood. Corday is the lead female role, and she is a narcoleptic. If any of you out there have any interesting information on narcolepsy (Ms. Billman?), please let me know. The interesting thing in all this is that I played this role in college. I feel very excited to have another shot at it, as I feel like a completely different person as the one I was then, and have much more to offer. Last week I was knee-deep in the Swamps of Sadness. I'm very glad to find I do indeed have a Luck Dragon.
My parents came to town this weekend, and yesterday we went to the beach in Malibu. The weather was gorgeous: misty, overcast, and just slightly chilled. As I looked out over the water, right before me in the ocean a huge tail popped up out of the water, then glided back in. This was followed by one big black fin, then another. David and I began to watch as it seemed like somewhere from four to six whales danced their way south before our eyes. It was so dreamlike and breathtaking, it almost felt like we were being visited by water angels. This morning at work I got an online greeting from a friend congratulating me on being cast in the play, and it contained a picture of a humpback whale leaping out of the water. Electricity and nature rejoicing! I love it when the Universe sends these very obvious hints.
I love this story. Has it been made into a children's book? Apr 22 2002, 11:16 pm
-I think this goes here, I'm assuming she was referring to the whales. -adriana Mom, from the archives | 04.11.05 - 10:55 am
